"Buddy Clocking" is the act of one employee clocking for another.
i.e. Employee A clocks for employee B on Mondays knowing that he is absent from work. On Tuesday employee B clocks for employee A again knowing that he is absent. In both instances the absent employee will get paid because the clocking systems shows that he was at work. If you have numerous employees engaged in this activity you can work out how much money your company is losing on a monthly basis.
With a fingerprint reader, because of the uniqueness of an individuals fingerprint, "Buddy Clocking" is no longer possible, ensuring that you only pay employees who were actually at work.
Some fingerprint readers have the added advantage of an Access Control function, whereby you can control the access of personnel to sensitive areas within your company.
Fingerprint readers are not recommended for use in the chemical and steel industries where the employee's fingerprints are often faded or obscured. If you work in either of these industries rather consider facial recognition as your main option.
